A Perfect Recipe For National Lasagna Day July 29

LTF806844Yes, it?s a little warm to crank up the oven, but in honor of National Lasagna Day, we?re proposing that you do just that and make a generous pan of this lasagna Bolognese from the chefs at the new Trattoria al Forno opening this fall at Disney?s BoardWalk . The leftovers are delish. ?Trattoria al Forno is true Italian cooking,? says Chef Lenny DeGeorge , executive chef, Concept Development, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. ?We?ve challenged ourselves to come up with authentic recipes that will wow our guests ? this restaurant is the next chapter in Disney dining.? It?s the attention to quality and detail that sets Trattoria al forno apart, says Chef Lenny. ?We?ve got an authentic prosciutto slicer, we?re making cavatelli pasta in-house, pickling peppers, making mozzarella, and serving spectacular pizza pies,? he says. One moved here of his favorite menu items is the charcuterie, with special cured meats such as hard salami with fennel pollen. DeGeorge grew up in an American-Italian family, but says it was a trip to Italy that forever changed his thoughts on cooking Italian. ?Italian food isn?t about lots of ingredients, less is more,? says Chef Lenny. ?True marinara is simply the best tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and time, lots of cooking time.? This is the recipe at Trattoria al forno, and they add a little house-made chicken stock to fortify the meat dishes. ?I think Italians will approve,? says Chef Lenny. His lasagna recipe, below, is ?moist, rich, and nothing like the Americanized version most of us grew up eating,? says Chef Lenny. Trattoria?s signature dishes like pasta carbonara will be made with fresh eggs, Romano cheese and guanciale (salt-cured pork cheeks), not the Americanized version with bacon, cream and peas. The chicken Parmesan is pounded paper thin, breaded and deep fried, with a side of long, flat ribbons of fresh tagliatelli pasta. ?We?re paying more attention to our guests? refined palates,? he says. Some, like the one produced by Mike and Julie Neal, are jam packed with amazing color photos. In addition, there are many fine websites, especially MousePlanet, that offer current advice and information about visiting the Disney theme parks. Just two months ago, a new travel guide was released that immediately became one of the three top sellers and has remained near that position ever since: The Easy Guide To Your First Walt Disney World Visit 2014 by Dave Shute and Josh Humphrey. This book is published by Theme Park Press, the same publisher that publishes my books. I had no input into this book, nor did I see it until a month after it was published and I receive no compensation for telling you about it. Basically, I wanted to let you know that this book exists and seems to be very popular judging by not only the sales but the many positive reviews on Amazon by people who know a lot more about Disney park traveling than I do. In addition, wouldnt you like to have a first edition of the Birnbaum or Sehlinger Disney guide books on your shelves at their original price rather than the hundreds of dollars that are asked when the books ever appear for sale, which is not often? Heres your chance to get a first-edition of a travel guide series that looks like it will be around for quite a while.

I agree that they made a sad song too happy, but it is what it is they obviously didnt want to make a music video like they did when they did Circle of Life, A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes, etc. If you wanted to be technical, Jordan Fisher is the only one who appears as if he can actually sing. Maybe if they had a few more Raven-Symones it wouldve been better. Back in the early 2000swhen Raven, Orlando Brown, Anneliese Van Der Pol, Kyla Pratt, Christy Carlson Ramano, ect were all onmost of them were professional singers so the overall songs had much more power. Most of the new Disney Channel stars are just ok singers. Even still, this was a fun little video. I liked it anytime the Disney Channel incorporates Disney film music.

Grundy County dancers succeed at competition | Morris Daily Herald

For dozens of businesses and organizations in Eastern Iowa, Mickey Mouse was the teacher on Tuesday. Led by two Disney Institute instructors, approximately 150 people from 60 entities got to peel back the curtain of Walt Disney World to see how it has become an iconic destination and a model for businesses across the spectrum. I had never heard of the Disney Institute before, but I knew about Disney, said Maureen Kler Osako, a vice president with Informatics, a web business based Cedar Rapids. Osako was among the attendees of the Disney Institutes Approach to Business Excellence seminar, hoping to bring home some ideas. The event was hosted by Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce. Chamber President Nancy Quellhorst said the organization brought in Disney in response to members seeking to improve leadership and customer service in the face of challenges such as recruiting and retaining workers and increasing competition. Examples from Mickey may seem far removed from businesses outside the theme park industry, but the lessons come from a core philosophy that aligns staff, setting and processes with a set of principles that can be modified almost anywhere. The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics made a splash a few years ago when leaders hired the Disney Institute. The hospital backed off an initial plan in 2009 to send a leadership group to Orlando in favor of bringing Disney to Iowa City. The relationship continues in 2014, with approximately 6,000 of the 9,000 UIHC employees having gone through Disney Institute training.

Ashlyn Punke, 7, of Morris and Ella Wheeler, 9, of Minooka competed in the petite division, against other girls between the ages of 7 and 11, and they both claimed a first-place trophy. Punke with her jazz solo, Party, and Wheeler with her hip-hop solo, Hey Hey Hey. I wasnt scared, Ashlyn said. My mom told me to just have fun. She said she was excited to hear her name when she won but the trophy wasnt the greatest part of her trip making new friends from other studios around North America was. Ella agreed hanging out with her friends is the bright side to dance, but her favorite is learning new things and seeing new places. It was my first time at Disney, she said. My favorite part was when they said I placed in the top 13. In addition to the individual dances, the dancers also are judged for a spot in the top 13 overall. The score to make it into the top 13 is based 60 percent on the dancers solo, 30 percent on a dance combo they learn and perform with all the dancers in their age group, and 10 percent on an interview with judges. Jacie Punke, Ashlyns 14-year-old sister, placed second in her individual solo and second in a duet with 17-year-old Karys Olsen of Morris. In addition, she was seventh runner-up in the national competition.
